My Earth Angel

There was a time when my mom and I never had a relationship. The bond disappeared when she left to work in another country and stayed away for years. I basically grew up without her. I got used to not having her around. But then I got married and became a mother. It was the start of a brand new relationship I never thought I'll ever have again.

Recycle boxes during a neighborhood event in my community

Recycle. We hear it all the time. We see it everywhere. It's probably one of the brilliant ideas human race ever thought of in an attempt to green Earth and our environment. But it will only work if we do it and do it right.

4 Top Blogger Taboos

I love learning about different cultures, which is in part why I love traveling to different countries. I found that the blog world is no different. Blogging is in it's own, a culture. And just like any culture, they hold certain standards that are considered taboo. There is no written guidelines about them, but they exists. You just have to be a part of the "Society" long enough to learn about it's existence.

The Potty-Mouthed Child

You're on a field trip at the zoo. You are a Volunteer/Chaperone parent. You are inside the Aquarium complex.  As you approach one of the exhibits, you noticed an interesting sight. You excitedly pointed this out to the kids you are in charge of and told them to look through the viewing window. Two alligators are on top of each other, who are also both on top of a poor turtle and who is desperately trying to get away. Sudden noise of disbelief erupted. Then from nowhere, this little girl who is no older than 8, came charging towards you to see what all the excitement's about. As she got close and saw what it was, let out this loud expletive: "HOLY SHIT!" - What would you do?

The Day Mother Earth Got Angry - My World Almost Ended

20 year old photograph of that wicked day

In honor of Earth Day and the victims and survivors, and their families, of the recent earthquake and Tsunami in Japan this year, I will share a true story that happened 20 years ago. One that I never really shared much to just anyone. It's one of those things you wish never happened. One that scared me and scarred me for life. One I shall never forget... the day I thought the whole world was going to end...

Hunt's Tomatoes and A Recipe dedicated to a girl who hates tomatoes!

Growing up in Asia, tomatoes are one of the staple vegetable in our kitchen. Most of the dishes we cook calls for a tomato ingredient which developed my love for tomatoes. I have always been aware of the benefits of eating tomatoes as part of a regular diet, which reinforced my loyalty to this red vegetable that resembles an apple. I'm happy that my husband likes tomato the same way but NOT our daughter. She avoids tomatoes like a plague!

Jennatouille - A Vegetarian Recipe fit for a Picky Princess

This recipe is my original creation and created for my daughter who is picky and hates tomatoes. This dish is an attempt to incorporate tomatoes in the ingredients. My daughter loves it and is great for vegetarians too!

Exploring New Sights at Universal's Islands of Adventure

After experiencing Universal Studios, we walked over to Islands of Adventure which is a walking distance from Universal Studio and where we spent the rest of the day in. Also our first time at this park. One thing I immediately noticed upon entering was that this park was a lot crowded. It apparently was due to the fact that Islands of Adventure has more attraction intended for young children. The Wizarding world of Harry Potter was also in this park which was the main attraction we were looking forward to seeing. Though tired, we were set for another adventure!

Navigating around Universal Studios Florida

The first time I visited Universal Studios was in California back in 2005. Though I never had the chance to visit the parks, I had the pleasure of enjoying a trek down Citywalk with it's iconic King Kong dominating the scene along the strip. Citywalk is definitely a feast for the eyes and one you won't easily forget! Compared to Downtown Disney, Citywalk evokes a flair that appeals more to the adults genre. A place that comes alive full throttle after the parks has closed. I had the pleasure of reliving this memories this year but not in California. This time it's in Florida!

Can you imagine my excitement when I found out I was going to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal OrlandoI was beyond excitement!

I was watching Extreme Ice by Nova last night. A documentary spearheaded by photographer James Balog who documented the unsettling effect of climate change in Alaska, Iceland and Greenland using time-lapse photography shot over the course of two years and I can't help feel a sickening feeling in my tummy. Ice and glaciers were melting in an alarming rate - faster than normal. And what's causing these irreversible effects? Us! How sad that we are killing the only planet we have.

Toy Reviews: Fun with the Zhu Zhu Puppies

My daughter first saw the Zhu Zhu Puppies at Target and I tell you, I never heard the end of it. Though my ears hurt from all her unending ramblings {if you've got girls, you know what it's like}, I can't blame her. She is a great fan of all things Zhu Zhu! What a treat of course {no pun intended}, when two Zhu Zhu Puppies literally landed on her lap to give her endless fun and delight!

Friday Revue: Bella Cucina Rotating Belgium Waffle Maker and Hamilton Beach Toaststation Toaster/Oven

My husband and I are working couples and you know how that is. Keeping up with the demands in the kitchen means having the right appliances to fill the need especially when schedule gets hectic and you have little mouths to feed! We've recently put two appliances to the test. See how they fared with my family's demand.
