My Earth Angel

There was a time when my mom and I never had a relationship. The bond disappeared when she left to work in another country and stayed away for years. I basically grew up without her. I got used to not having her around. But then I got married and became a mother. It was the start of a brand new relationship I never thought I'll ever have again.

Two days after I gave birth to my daughter, my mom came. All the way from Kuwait. Straight from the airport. 14 hours flight. She didn't even bother stopping at our home to drop off her things. She wanted to see us right away and didn't leave until I was discharged. I stayed at the hospital five days! She was there with me all those times.

The bond that I thought was lost, re-emerged and stronger than I expected. I don't know how I would have survived those first few days and months if she wasn't there for me. I had C-Section which incapacitated me for 2 months. Having her made things easier. And that was just the beginning. I can never count the times she was there for me especially when I needed her the most. No matter  if it was of financial help or just someone to talk to when I was at my lowest. She is my Angel. My Earth Angel. My Mom. And she empowers me!

Heart of Haiti Project is the same way. Thanks to Willa Shalit. It is empowering people, especially women, to survive and overcome poverty by supporting and patronizing local Artisan's hand-crafted creations in Haiti and importing their products to the US.
