Go Outside and Play! + Scott Naturals Pledge and Giveaway

Now that the weather has started to warm up quite a bit, with bright, sunny days in between, I just couldn't see any reason why my daughter should continue getting cooped up indoors either staring at the TV, the iPad or her DS! It's just wrong...

According to National Wildlife Federation, America's largest conservation organization: "More and more children today are taking outdoor fun indoors." I can clearly attest to this. Many children today are as plugged in as their parents. It has become an addictive lifestyle that is taking our children away from being outdoors and enjoying the beauty of nature.

"Studies show outdoor time helps children grow lean and strong, enhances imaginations and attention spans, decreases aggression, and boosts classroom performance. In addition, children who spend time in nature regularly are shown to become better stewards of the environment." - Quoted from NWF

I'm so-kicking my child's butt out of the couch to BE OUT THERE! Each day, I make sure she get some SUN time after she gets home from school, done her homework and eaten her snack. I let her do whatever she wants out there as long as she is outdoors and not bothering me! It can be a mini-camp with her dolls. A cross-yard marathon around the house's back and front yard. A fossil-digging project on the front yard grounds. Or even simply just sun-watching as how my daughter calls it. Though jumping on a trampoline for hours with her friends seem to be on top of the list! There's really plenty of creative ways to entice them to be outdoors. Make one or get ideas from NWF's Be Out There Outreach where you can also chime in to promise to go outside and do one nice thing for Earth on April 22.
