America's New Addiction: Gadgetism

If you're one of those whose nose is acceptably not always implanted on the screen of their phone, imagine yourself waiting inside a restaurant to be seated. Look around. Look at the people sitting next to you or those standing with their family or friends. What do you see?

Heartbreak #1: Don't Trust Your Fans and Followers Count

Let's admit it. Across the board, blogger or entrepreneur, it brings us joy when we see our followers count grow! Who doesn't? We identify it as an integral measure of our "growth". Thus, we end up obsessing over the numbers to a point that when we lose followers by any form or fashion, it cuts us like a knife and it affects us emotionally. But I say STOP, right there, right now! Wasting precious energy sulking and whining about it ain't worth it! When you lose followers, think of this - It has nothing to do with you, it's them!

Sounds so cliche' doesn't it? An overused line that we'd politely say, or receive, when we are dumping someone, or tragically, being dumped! Though in this case, I simply can't agree more. Yes! It's them and not you!

Un-joys of Un-Motherhood: One Woman's Story on Giving Up On Being a Mom

I'm sure that at least 90% of you would agree that women are destined for motherhood. We were created for it. Women in other cultures, that's their ultimate purpose - to be mothers**. Motherhood is what spurs an instant connection between the female specie, especially those who are blessed to be mothers. But others aren't as lucky. And that validating question "do you have children?" or "How many kids do you have?" takes a sudden awkward turn. This is what happened to me today.

No BS Life Lessons From Wreck-It-Ralph

It was nice to spend Martin Luther King day at the movies with my family. Our unanimous choice was Wreck-It-Ralph. My daughter was pretty excited to see it of course. It was more for her enjoyment than ours, yet I was the one who came home with tons of takeaways from the movie. I even cried for crying out loud! But the movie had lots of lessons to impart, if one's heart and eyes are open to see them.

The Hobbit - Not Your Typical Fantasy Movie

The Hobbit is showing in your favorite theaters now. If you haven't seen it yet, STOP reading this. But if you don't care for a few spoilers, then BE MY GUEST, dearie.

When you think of the Hobbits in the Lord of the Rings, they are nothing but passive, gentle, laid-back, non-violent-prone beings that when a movie was made out of them, our first instinct (mine anyway), is that it's a movie that our (young) children can watch with us. Kind of like a great family movie night out option. Well, no, but yes, if you want to give them a little scare...no make that, a lot.

Unresolution Your Way to an Awesome-r You in 2013

It's the New Year and I'm relentlessly asked what my resolutions are. The yearly resolutions that are endlessly discussed, asked, and plastered on every print, tv and online. Even my inbox gets inundated by brands suggesting I include buying more of their products as my resolution. Eeks, seriously! Nice try but NO thanks! Shaddup already. Resolution has gotten so "commercialized", it's basically turned into a noisy, non-stop buzz that's almost as worst as having Tennitus which seem to get louder especially at the onset of New year and the whole month of January. What is about a resolution anyway that keep us into creating them yet most often than not, NOT keep them?

The Domino Effect Created by the Sandy Hook Elementary Tragedy. Are you Prepared? #26Candles

I normally don't write about tragedy and loss because I know how much it HURTS and it makes me sad, but with the recent tragedy that literally rocked our world and with holidays fast-approaching, it seem harder to celebrate knowing that there are 26 families out there who are hurting and grieving in Connecticut right now. The same tragedy that unfortunately sent a wave of FEAR and big changes like a domino effect in schools all across the country, if not the world.

Is Technology Turning Us Into Cyber Beings?

It's interesting to see how our society have totally adapted to the ever-changing technology of this generation. It's a continuing evolution that seem to take a permanent hold in our everyday lives. Maybe more than we even want to... Or is aware of.

The Power of Women As Consumers

Danica Patrick - courtesy of USA Today
Looking at who looked at my site - yes I'm very nosy when it comes to my own website - the other day, I saw that one of my TWIN post was linked from another site. That, of course, is flattering (SEO-wise) to me. But that's beside the point. What was intriguing was that this particular article was by a marketing guru who was talking about effective ways to market to women and how to tap into this rich resource!

Yes, we, women. The shopaholics. The great product evangelists. We who have the power to command sales on any product we love just by mere word of mouth.
