Culture Buzz: In What Language Do You Think In Your Head?

The Thinker / Photo: WikiCommon

English is not my first language. Not a shocker there. But it is for some people who couldn't tell - and I will tell you, I've got a few many fooled without meaning to. Tap on my shoulder. "heck, got you fooled!" I can't help it. I was born and raised in Asia but I'm pretty fluent with the language and I can gab my way through a conversation without sounding soooo foreign and soooo fresh off the boat - which most "judgmental", ignorant, people think I am- just by looking at me. Tough. "Do you know English?". "Can you speak in English?"

Right. Of course I do. Bitch.

To which I would get this "Oh wow. Your English is good!"

I've rolled my eyes so many times, I've got the roll down to a science.

Bitch.

But you probably don't know this - but I'm telling you anyway -  that I also speak three dialects and semi-fluent with 2 other languages. I can hold 4 different conversations in 4 different languages and dialects at the same time. I have no problem keeping up and drives people nuts! Awesome right? Well, kind of.

Take A Pause

I'm rather curious. As a blogger, when was the last time you walked away from your laptop for 2 to 3 weeks and felt 100% comfortable with it? This could be by choice or by circumstances.

Did you get the "shakes" when you did?

Kind of like when you stop drinking coffee and then you get plagued by "shakes" as an after-effect.

If you're NOT a blogger, stop reading here - or you'll think I'm a rambling fool.

If you'd rather continue and think I'm a rambling fool then please read on.

Life According To My Toothbrush

I confess. I consume more toothbrush than the regular person would. What if I tell you I replace mine every week? It's rather shameful that my husband is working very hard so he can provide for my weekly toothbrush demands! But before you judge me, it's not at all because I'm OCD that way or that I have a vendetta to get rid of every toothbrush that graces my teeth every week! If anything, my vendetta would be on the debris on my teeth. I have a bad habit - if you can call it that - of brushing my teeth so hard, like with a vengeance, it leaves my toothbrush all frayed, slanted and disheveled like an old witch's broom that have seen better days in as little as one week or less!

10 Things I Can Do Now That I'm Afraid To Do 10 years ago

I tell you, the business of being married had taken the term "Comfort zone" into a whole new different level for me. One thing that I probably will not find myself in if I were still single now. I'm also not sure if you've reached this same Nirvana at this point of your wedded blessedness, but we can compare notes right here, right now if you're willing to dish out some of your own little secrets with me. Alright, I'll start.

I've been married 10 years now but it seem like it was just yesterday. Don't you ever get that feeling? It sure blows my mind thinking how long ago it was and yet it doesn't feel as if it was! Oh trust me, I so prefer the "10 years after" than being at that early stages in my marriage. That thing they call honeymoon stage? It sucks! Tons of awkward moments that I wouldn't even dare try remember or relive. Would you?

Shall We Say Merry Birthday?

Losing someone to death during the holidays may be the worst unfortunate event one can ever experience, but I'd say having your birthday during or around the holidays comes close second. I should know this. My birthday is (3) three days before Christmas. And I tell you now. It ain't fun at all. No not at all.

The Concept of ll

You're probably confused as to what those two vertical lines that seemingly look like either two lower-case "L's" or the Roman numeral version of 2 in the title truly represents. Have a guess? Your perception could be totally unrelated to the truth. Take a moment right now and think? What does your mind tells you?

I will give you the answer at the bottom of this post. I shall make this short and sweet. After all, this is all about perception. Nothing serious. Just a mind-boggling exercise at how we all perceive the things around us. One classic line that correspond well with perception is the infamous "the answer/or right person, is right in front of me but I'm too blind to see it!" Yep. Perception.
