The Colorful Road to the Mountain Top

12 Years. That's how long it took for me to finally experience, witness, admire and [forever] capture the beauty of Fall up in the mountains. A wait worth the wait. In one full day, nature revealed its grandeur and amazing wonders all but unexpectedly - yet wholeheartedly accepted. It made me walk in the clouds, yes, walk in the clouds and marveled on its panoramic views around me and below me.

A Ghostly Ride Aboard The Ghost Train

Ghost Train ready to take in passengers / Photo: +Maricris G

The Ghost Train in Tweetsie Railroad is probably one of High Country's best kept secrets during Halloween season. But as you know, best ones don't stay secret for too long. This is why we found ourselves driving almost 2 hours from Charlotte to discover what makes the Ghost Train so popular.
"You can measure the popularity of an attraction by how they affect the area around them. Out of towners flock to this location and congregate in one hot spot. Hotels are an easy indication. They're all fully booked. And majority of these visitors, you'll see at Tweetsie. "

Fall Family Fun: Amazing Maize Maze at Rural Hill

I never thought getting lost can be fun! This, of course is the case if you are in a 7 acre corn maze with a bunch of excitable friends who are as clueless as to where they're heading as you. This is my first time tackling a maize in this humongous proportion! 7 acres is no joke especially when you're dwarfed by tall corn stalks and engulfed in it. Add dead-ends and multitudes of twist and turns that leads to the unknown. But that didn't stop us from having a grand time at the Amazing Maize Maze at Rural Hill. All Two hours worth!

Fall Series: The Evolution of a Fall Leaf

It's always fascinating to watch the leaves change colors on the onset of Fall but more so, seeing the stages of how these changes takes place. This is where it gets very interesting. I managed to photograph the different color stages of how these changes occur from one particular tree in my backyard. And it is ah-mazing to discover! Watch the video and see what I mean.

Personal note: I can see this as a great show and tell material for teachers wanting to show how a leaf change color during Fall. If you are an educator, please feel free to use this material for your teaching use. If you require photos, I can send you the copy free of charge. Simply drop us an email with Fall photos on subject line.
