Bringing the Human touch back! - When the Internet is Gone

What will I write before internet is gone forever?

Just thinking of that statement makes me feel like I'm with Michael J. Fox going back NOT to the future but to the past, where personal, human interactions are cherished and dearly precious. Days long gone. Stolen by internet and technology. Yes, I hear you! Technology is great to us but it also turned us into humanoids. Imagine being in the same room with someone. What are they doing while you're talking? They're oogling at their wi-fi capable phones, texting, facebooking, twittering and pretending to be listening to you by half-consciously nodding their heads like automated robots. Gone are the eye contacts and attentive listeners! This is why, if Justin Timberlake insists on bringing the sexy back, then I say, bring humanity back!

So this is what I'll write:

Gone with the hackers! Privacy and security re-established!

Welcome back hand-written letters that makes me jump with joy whenever I get them in the mail and warms my heart when it is written by someone dear. Yes, I will go through withdrawal being obsessed being online for so long but in the bright side of things, I can be human again! My hubby and I will no longer text each other while in the same room, or web chat while in separate rooms. We might actually have romance back in real time!

As a parting word,  I will include a warm thank you to my fellow online internet-addicted friends along with my name, address and phone number so they can get in touch with me and maybe send me actual cards for my birthday. Then a shout out to all the companies I worked with so I can continue working with them OFFLINE.

Ah to be human again!

Thanks Disney World! Never a dull moment.

Disney Social Media Moms - What will you Celebrate?

Yes, What will you Celebrate? A resounding question permeating within the vast spectrum of Disney World, so pleasantly echoed in every print and vocals of those who speak and represent the magical world that is Disney while I was there during the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration last week.

Disney has definitely captured the essence of what moms truly celebrate and what Disney is all about : Family. And true it was. Disney made it all possible. A magical stay filled with fun for our families and great takeaways for the more than 150 mom bloggers from the 3-day conference. Disney World has set the standard high for all who attended and officially sealed the mom bloggers status into Social Media Mom Influencers. Yes, I am proud to be a Social Media Mom!  "We are no longer JUST mom bloggers. We are now professional influencers in Social media." They've cut out the niche for us. But it's up to us to follow through. Some came for the experience, some came for personal development and connecting. Which direction did you choose? I chose the latter for I believe great things comes with it. Things that are priceless like...

a) Friendships
Shellie @Military_Mom & Hubby, Kathy Ireland, Molly @MyGOMOM, Tamara @MomRN, Lissete @LisseteD, Maria @ChicagoMommy and Moi'

b) Connecting with Online friends in IRL (in real life)
Finally! Jennifer - the Momblogger of all bloggers

c) Reconnecting with old friends
d) Opportunities
e)Professional Growth
f) Tools to enhance skills
g) Learning from the Experts
h)Best of all fun memories and so much more...

If you ask me, I celebrate myself for being a Mom and not just any mom, a Social Media Mom! It's great to see that a love for writing and socializing has evolved into a fruitful experience and has become a solid connection to a vast community that shares the same passion. Most of all without the support and understanding of my family, I would not be where I am today. As what my hubby and daughter wrote in their Disney guest badges below my name: "our Mom Blogger Extraordinaire!" - tis' the greatest honor!

*(Disney provided rooms, meals and park tickets for me and my family as part of the conference package, at a reduced rate.)

Window to My World Wednesday - Sleeping in Disney!

Zonked out in the middle of Chaos!
Inside "Honey I shrunk the Kids" Movie Set

(The title of this post should have been "Honey I Zonked out in the Park!")

After a long, fast-paced- you can say H.E.C.T.I.C.- but essentially AWESOME 3-day conference at the first Disney Social Media Mom Celebration conference at Walt Disney Resorts, it was but befitting to take advantage of the rest of the weekend to finally visit the park and enjoy it as a family, which was a bit impossible during the conference. But as it turned out, the early morning and late night activities during the conference caught up with me!

Do you think Leanne & I have the same thing in common?

Fabulous Wednesday to all!

Beary Fabulous Time with Maxine Clark - CEO of Build-a-Bear

Maricris and Maxine Clark
Ballroom of America B

I intended to post some useful and smart updates on my recent Social Media Conference at Disney via Disney Social Media Moms today but it's Valentine's Day and it's all about love. I'm still at Disney and still infused with awe at the recent conference but since it's love day, I'll sidestep the original intent. And with this, Maxine Clark immediately came to mind. This wonderful lady who I've immediately come to love by the sheer being of who she is in person and how she values each and everyone in her community just astounds me. She is a great representation of someone who has truly evoked the power of love and put it into action. Her story of how she started Build-a-Bear was conceived out of love and continues to spread that love through her creations of cuddly and bearyful stuff toys for our kids. She gave love and love she got in return. She inspires me and I DEFINITELY "want to be like her when I grow up".

"Thank you Maxine for your friendship
and for being a wonderful advocate of love."

Happy Valentines to All of you. I wish you a day filled with love and blessings...And please watch out for updates in the next few days. If you're a mom hoping to get successful in the blogging business, you wouldn't want to miss these powerful and effective tools shared by Maxine Clark herself, Kathy Ireland, Marisa Winokur and Chris Brogan.

Window to My World Wednesday: What the heck?

If you can guess what this thing-a-ma-bob is, I'll bring you something from Disney
just for the heck of it too!
Up for the Challenge? Correct guess wins of course!

Ok I'm off to the Disney Social Media Moms Convention...Up, up and away! Darn! Where's my trusted cape?

I'm So Excited and I just can't hide it!

I want to love you, feel you,
Wrap myself around you.
I want to squeeze you, please you,
I just can't get enough,
And if you move real slow,
I'll let it go.
I'm so excited,
And I just can't hide it,
I'm about to lose control
And I think I like it.
I'm so excited,
And I just can't hide it,
And I know, I know, I know, I know
I know I want you, want you....

Yes I'm a raving lunatic with excitement and anxiousness right now! And though I don't have the sultry vocals of the Pointer Sisters, I just have to sing it because that song describes exactly how I feel about the upcoming Disney Social Media Moms Convention! I can't believe it's tomorrow and yes, I can't hide my excitement! It will be my 1st major event ever and I'm over the top ecstatic about it. And why not? An exclusive invite like this doesn't come too often.

I've done my shopping like crazy to get ready for this event. Started Sunday @ Concord Mills. It was a walkathon beginning at Ann Taylor Factory to Old Navy to Gap to Banana Republic finishing up at Ann Taylor Loft (don't ask me if my feet ached or I'll throw my stinkin' shoes at you!). I got my freakin' exercise by default. Next day went to Target then back at Old Navy. Then again today, Rack Room Shoes, (back at) Target, Best Buy, ran to Walmart then Radio Shack and waddya know ended at Target! Did I say C.R.A.Z.Y. shopping? Don't ask me but I think I'm set. Broke but set.

If you're going, please let me know. I know some attendees may not make it because of the freaky Snowmaggedon but if you do, I would love, love to meet you in person! See you then!!!

Go with the Flow - Beating the blogging funk!

Everything that begins also ends. Make peace with that and all will be well. - Buddha

Sister-in-law was on the phone with hubby and asking whether I would still actively list additional jewelry creation in my online shop. I have not added anything in a while (really long while). Tell you the truth, I have a crazy habit. I go through what I fancily call "Phases". One day creating like a maniac, the next day, totally don't want to do anything with it.

I bounce like a ping-pong ball in between creating and blogging. Here then there. I find it hateful at times especially when I need to create or blog about something and all I have is total inertia!

Hubby told his sister, "She's got the blogging bug right now" - which is true. I have found that everytime I fight the Phase I'm in, I just get frustrated and end up in a deeper funk. So, I let it rule me until it wears away.

If you ever find yourself in a funk: (which most of us do)
Don't fight it.

Look around you. There's always something to write about.

Post a picture or a video clip  in place of a non-existent story.

Get a guest blogger to cover for you.

Zensible approach: Meditate. It's calming. And when your calm, your mind is refreshed which makes it easier for thoughts to flow.

How to Meditate.

As for me, I just go with the flow. Right now it's working. Up until of course, I'm obliged to help create a school project for kiddo, then you don't want to be around me. Or it's Game over. Say, Ommm...

Window to my World Wednesday: My Little Star

We've had so much fun and great thrills during our weekend winter wonderland here in the Carolinas, it's just befitting to share the most memorable pictures.

This picture of my girl made it on TV that Saturday.

She can't get enough of the snow. Went back out second time
that Saturday, then again on Sunday and Monday
and this time with her Sand toys for added fun!

SNOW days are definitely F.U.N.
though after a few days it's a different story...
