Geek Week: Entune Technology

Music has always been a fascinating medium that can either calm a soul or stir inner emotions but no matter how music affects you, one thing's for certain, it's part of every music-loving individuals life, me including! And I will readily admit, I'm a Pandora freak. I have the apps on my smartphones, my iPads and even on my Kindle Fire. It's one of those things that I just gotta have. And if I can have it on my car I would too! Well, the good news is, it is possible now with Toyota's new Entune Technology and one I was privileged to experience hands-on! I bet you've seen the Camry commercial where my two favorite people Kelly Clarkson and Andrew Zimmern were featured, have you?

So What's Entune? Simply put, "it is a revolutionary in-car experience that keeps you and your car (Toyota) connected." But nothing is simple about this technology, rather that it is a more advanced approach in providing seamless connectivity to the world of entertainment like Pandora among other things. Which of course, thrilled me to no end!
A little sneak peek at the recent TWIN Camp discussing Entune Technology
(Pardon the unedited voice-overs)

I had my Entune experience during a test-drive of Toyota's Prius C prototype at Toyota's headquarters in California. My experience was impressive but just like anything that peruses technology, performance can't all be perfect as we would hope.

Minor setbacks:
Entune functions through an application uploaded on a compatible Smartphone device and connects to the car platform via bluetooth connectivity which can be a little glitchy at times. Other factors that will affect it's performance is the wifi strength of your device. And knowing how some carrier's internet connectivity is, your total experience will be at it's mercy! Add that you should also have a good data plan to back-up your over-all Entune experience specially if you opt to use it during long road trips.

System with lots of potentials.
Nevertheless, Entune is a cut above the rest in today's entertainment technology systems within the car industry. And knowing Toyota's Kaizen philosophy, this is just the beginning of a better system in the very near future! You can count on that! It is new. It's growing and improving. After experiencing it for myself, I certainly wouldn't think twice utilizing it if I have an Entune-capable vehicle right now!

Entune is currently available on select Toyota vehicles and are currently growing it's Multimedia systems to keep up with the trend. Something that is worth looking forward to!
