The Joy of Fall

I'm not a big fan of the cold weather and usually when Fall comes into the scene, it starts giving me the imaginary *shivers* just because Fall is the big precursor to the cold weather ahead of us!

But on the flip side, Fall is one of my favorite season ONLY because of the wondrous colors that all the leaves evolves into during this time. I love driving along tree-lined roads with the explosion of mesmerizing Autumn colors, just like the picture I took above on a not-so-busy highway on our way to SC! lovely ain't it? (ok shush! not a word!)

BUT these lovely leaves will soon turn into a BIG mess! And that's exactly what we have in our front and backyard. We have this BIG BIG (Monstrous) tree around the house that does this. Today, Hubby (inspired by his brewing angst with his nutty laptop) decided to put all his energy into gathering all the ugly, rotting leaves (rather than throwing his laptop on the floor) and piled them on each side of the yard. Yet before it went to its' last destination, Miss Sasserfrass thought of a grander idea where the biggest pile was the winner!

The pile sure did get a lot of beating but the joy Miss Sasserfrass got out of it was priceless! (And hubby's threatening wrath towards his laptop came to good use! )Even the minute things in life has its' perks! ( My perk is that I'm NOT the one cleaning up after HER mess! ) oh Joy!

What do you like about Fall? Any Fall stories you care to share?

  2. Autumn is great! Our kids actually get right under the leaves and hide there so you can't see them... Great fun!

  4. Your daughter looks so cute playing in the leaves. My daughters love to do the same thing!

I actually love Fall. I dread too that the cold weather is coming, but I think it's the prettiest time of year. We love to take family walks through the woods just to see all of the different colors on the trees. Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your Fall memory!

  5. I guess it is a good thing we only have three trees, small and young ones, in our yard! How fun to play in though.

  6. I was just telling my 4 year old yesterday how I used to play in big leaf piles.

Sadly all our trees are too young to make a big leaf pile.

Now I am off to show her this photo.

  7. I walk on the ground everyday with leaves scattered everywhere. It's a mess! But they will just rot and disappear and the soonest the better. I don't like to walk on the leaves especially when it's raining. :-)

  12. Hi Maricris! You went mingling, mingling today didn't you? Thank you for the visit!
Personally, I am not fond of the way fall looks, I don't care for all those colors. I prefer the barren trees of winter and snow. The GOOD thing about fall is that it's the season of soups and chowders!

  15. I saw you were first on roll call today. One day maybe I will be. I have been 15th, that's the closest for me.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by my blog. Cute pictures. A few years ago before hubby's grandma sold her property, the whole family would go out one November weekend and rake and burn leaves. Some years there would be 10 to 15 of us. Granny would always have a big pot of home made meatballs and sauce for us. It was the best. My kids have great memories of that. I will have to scan some pictures and post them, they are great! This was before my digital camera days.

  18. My daughter hasn't gotten to play in the leaves, yet. But I'm sure she'll love it. She knows that it is fall, but she prefers to call it autumn...probably because of the Signing Time song, "Autumn time is a windy time...."

  22. Yikes! I am still tired from the 20 bags we raked from the front yard alone. The leaves are so nice to have on the trees, but not so nice to have to rake up when they fall! Cute picture of your daughter in jumping in the pile though. That is what Fall is all about!

  24. It's recommended that you leave your rotting leaves to rot even more, in neat piles, of course. Makes the best mulch there is. Charming little girl in those photos!
