Today, Thursday, November 6, 2008 marks the day that I, officially, is no longer an Alien! No, I'm not from Mars. I don't look green, I'm actually brown. I didn't get injected with Anti-Alien vaccine to eliminate my monstrous alien qualities- none of those at all - but yes, I'm no longer an Alien! - to the Immigration that is - but the transition didn't go uneventful like I hope it would...
Half-way down to my Citizenship interview, the fire alarm went off and we all scurried down the halls like Speedy Gonzales trying to get out of the building. Dang! I was so close - so close... "Was I going to come back on a later date?" All my files are inside the building in the verge of getting burnt! I was panicking deep within- not with the fire that may have been amidst us but the fact that geez, I was so close to the end, only to get all this unwarranted delays and suspense! Not to say the fear of having to re-submit all my paperworks! I gave up work just to be there and that is how it will end! dang!
Fortunately, it was a false alarm. We went back inside the building gathered like scared chickens! Sigh! NO, BIG SIGH! Ok, things are looking promising afterall. Imagine me screaming inside me saying: "let it stay this way until I actually sign those freaking papers!"- so I did! My ceremonial oath-taking will be on Dec. 1st. I, at least have something to look forward to. So as of today, this silly Asian, is finally a Citizen of the US! - now, don't ask me if I'm happy about it. I might tell you a different story :) - I actually plan on writing a book about my Immigration journey. Hmmm...another thing for me to go crazy about.
Anyway, for some crazy update...where the heck was I? Why wasn't I blogging as much? Not twittering, Not social networking at all...what the heck was I doing? - Well, for those who want to know, I am currently riding another storm in our life. When will this storm ever end?! Sigh! when it rains, it does pour! We currently have a category 4 hurricane ravishing our life right now.
Remember not too long ago, my hubby lost his job and still is unemployed to this date? And that if it wasn't bad enough, my employer decided to scale my job down to Part-time! Talk about freaking unfair! yeah my employer is aware but he chose to hack me. So now, I feel like I'm inside a big swirl and kind of lost. Darn, so much drama in my life! Can someone make a sob movie out of my life story?! The proceeds will go to our Food bank! Thank you! dang!
I'm not sour- maybe a bit- I'm human afterall. I so need a miracle! I don't even want to think about Christmas. Can you blame me?!
Anyway, hop on over to Mark's blog who was kind enough to have me as a featured blogger this Saturday. Mark has always been a very inspiring friend behind the scene. Go say "hi" to him and while you're there, show my post some love comment too! Thanks!!!

ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful pieces as usual! Congrats on getting your citizenship! That would have been awful if you lost that paperwork and had to go through all of that again. I am surprised that I haven't heard about the hurricane. I hope you guys make it through it safe.
ReplyDeleteCongratulation!!!I hope the best for you.
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry to hear what happened to you and your hubby. Sometimes there's truth when the say "when it rains it pours" but remember after the rains there's come a rainbow and who know maybe you can find your pot of gold after all these trials.
I really admire you how you tackle the trials in your life you still find humor in it, you still posses the filipina spirit within you if that you are a like other westerner here in the north you will be depressed and visit your shrink.
I really like your designs it is almost what I see in the jewelry shops here in Copenhagen you are worldclass.
I hope the storm will be over but you remember in Panggasinan where there always storms and floods every year and sometimes the bangus (milkfish) swims from the fishponds to the streets that is the main livelihood of most people in my hometown. But like the bamboo tree they still managed to stand up and start all over again.
Regards and God bless you and your family.
Congrats on your US citizenship! I never applied for my citizenship when i had the chance and have been regretting it ever since. ESp last Tuesday!

hey, is it just me or do you feel weird typing in tagalog. i feel like i'm typing everything wrong, spelling everything wrong?
hang in there! you can weather the storms of life...i know that probably just so cliche for you right now (but i do want to congratulatesing your citizenship interview and soon you'll be really joining us in ranks!)
ReplyDeleteeven though it is difficult to do, you should take a little quiet time to sit and think about why you are going through these trials. God only gives us trials for a reason---He is no random guy...we've just been through something similar with my husband not having a job and having a really difficult time in procurring one. I think that we just have to figure out what the purpse behind our struggles and trials are and then pray for strength to endure (because that is relly all God wants from us: is to know how faithul we are going to be through the ups AND the downs of life...) take a moment and ZEN for yourself. i'll be praying for you and your hubby...its no fun, i can attest! (and i'm prety sure that all those grey hairs that popped on my head are an attestation as well...)
Congrats girl....I know what a journey of becoming a citizen can be...we are still going through this with my Canadian born hubby...it has been completely ridiculous and expensive!! So wanted to complain my tail off..but hubby will not let me...yet at least..we are still going through all of it and paying still more money...I think he will get his citizenship in a few years...can't wait for it to be done and over with...happy that your are almost done!! :)

ReplyDeleteMurphy's Law, huh! But I admire you! You're in this storm, and yet you crank out these very beautiful pieces! I wish I could will out my muse just like that!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your citizenship! That is wonderful news. And I know about your storm from twitter - this too shall pass. And you know what Christmas in my opinion is about celebrating the birth of Jesus and family. Enjoy family and don't get caught up in the fanfare of gift giving. Do fun things at home like bake cookies and things. Those memories are what will stay with your daughter.
